Baseball Picks Game Preview: New York Mets at Colorado Rockies

After the New York Mets had seen two consecutive games get wiped out due to bad weather, the team is hoping to play two games today. The Mets, who had the first game of their four game set against the Colorado Rockies wiped out due to snow last night, are set for a day/night doubleheader today as Major League Baseball hopes to squeeze all four games of this series in around sloppy weather. First pitch for Game One at Coors Field is set for 3:10 pm, and the Mets will send righty Dillon Gee (0-2, 7.71 ERA) to the mound. Gee, who is looking to snap a two game losing streak, will face off with righty Juan Nicasio (1-0, 4.91 ERA) for the Rockies. Here is the lineup the Mets will send out for the first game.

  1. RF Jordany Valdespin
  2. 2B Daniel Murphy
  3. 3B David Wright
  4. 1B Ike Davis
  5. C John Buck
  6. LF Lucas Duda
  7. CF Kirk Nieuwenhuis
  8. SS Ruben Tejada
  9. SP Dillon Gee

Pre-Game Notes:

  • Game time temperature will be around 46 degrees with a 36 degree wind chill.
  • There was so much snow on the field last night that Colorado Rockies owner Dick Monfort grabbed a shovel and helped remove some snow.
  • The Mets went 2-5 against the Rockies in 2012, but both of their victories were in Coors Field.
  • John Buck gets a start in the day game of the double header, which is likely because manager Terry Collins expects it is the more likely of the two games to get played. Expect Anthony Recker to start in the night cap.
  • Ike Davis will look to get on track in the hitter friendly confines of Coors Field. Davis is hitting only .128 with one home run and two RBI’s in 10 games.
